Apply a light smear of high melting point grease onto the gearbox input shaft splines, mount the new clutch plate onto them and slide up to the guide tube and then remove, which will evenly distribute the grease and confirm the clutch is correct for application, before wiping off any excess grease. Kia C'eed gearbox. Hi all, I recently bought a 2008 Kia Ceed 1.6 diesel. I have done the master cylinder mod. So the clutch is much better. The gears are a little on the stiff side when it is cold. The problem gear is second. Very stiff when going up. Dreadful when coming down. Just about acceptable when it is warm. It does, however, pull to one side or the other and it makes a HORRIBLE clunk/clank noise when rotating the steering wheel at low speeds (5mph or lower) or when parked. Some youtube videos showed older Kia's and previous Soul gens that had a shredded coupling/gear between the power assist steering motor and the steering column. Looks like that Having been working from home for months my Ceed diesel automatic 64 plate has rarely moved. initially after a period of not moving the car, moving the gearstick from Park to Drive was like pulling it through syrup. But it still worked okay. Yesterday however it moved from Drive to Neutral but not all the way back to Drive. Next week will be a year since I leased this vehicle. I have three years to go on my lease. I can’t take this uncomfortable (kinda scary) ride for that long. - Teresa R. , Redondo Beach, US
Apologies for the delay, sometimes it can take a while for your question to be answered, depending on the availabilty of the experts and the complexity of the question. Did the garage reset the gearbox linkage? Sometimes the gearbox linkage can go out of sync over time which can cause intermittent shifting problems.
