My test car was a Civic 1.6-litre, i-DTEC (Diesel), Smart Plus model finished in stunning Brilliant Sporty Blue metallic paint and was mated to a slick 6-speed manual gearbox. Fuel economy from Honda’s wonderful diesel engine is terrific, with consumption as low as 3.5l/100km possible on an extra-urban driving cycle.
The Honda Civic has a ECON driving mode, which helps save fuel with a less sensitive throttle and smoother climate management. In any case, this 1.6 i-DTEC engine offers a good response, although if we are going to drive on the road or loaded, the extra response of deactivating the economic mode is an interesting help.Honda CR-V MPG & CO2. Which is why Honda’s so happy to be launching its new Civic i-DTEC diesel, in spite of all the negative headlines. It is more fuel-efficient than the old car, puts out less CO2, puts out wayZZAw.
